What materials do you use?

The specific materials used for each individual piece will be listed in the description of the item.

I primarily work with bright aluminum, which is prized for it's radiant shine, durability, feather-light feel, and resistance to tarnishing. Aluminum is also greatly considered to be hypoallergenic. 

Additionally, I work with stainless steel for heavy-duty designs that require extra strength and durability. These are ideal for more intense use, and can withstand pulling and tension. Stainless steel will not be available for custom orders at this time.

 

Are your pieces heavy?

Depends on the material!

The lightness of aluminum makes it an ideal choice for pieces such as earrings, and large scale pieces like bikinis, harnesses, etc. This ensures pieces will be as sensory-friendly and comfortable as possible. I personally have many sensory problems with clothing, and I can wear my large pieces all day without discomfort.

Any pieces created with stainless steel that are designed to be heavyweight, will be listed as such.

 

What makes your work different?

I seek to bring variety to daily fetishwear, as I have found a lack of options to fit my own personal style. I create the pieces that I want to see more of, and hopefully that others do as well!

My chainmail is crafted with comfort being first in mind. The intention behind my work is to create lightweight, non-irritating, sensory-friendly pieces that are designed for long hours of wear without discomfort. I take the utmost care to ensure my work will not pinch, catch on hair or clothing, or feel distracting to wear. The choice of aluminum as a primary material also gives the pieces a smooth, silky feeling that rests gently on the skin. This makes it an ideal choice for everyday wear.

 

Are your pieces waterproof?

Bright aluminum will not rust and is safe to get wet, but water may dull it's shine over time. To keep it's mirror-like finish, I recommend removing the piece before swimming, bathing, or exposuing it to harsh chemicals. Stainless steel on the other hand, is fully waterproof and requires little care.

 

Will the colour fade?

Bright aluminum does not fade because it isn't dyed, it is naturally a light silver in colour. However with heavy wear, it may develop a soft patina or lose some of it's original luster. A quick polish will always restore it's shine!

 

How do I clean my chainmail?

A gentle wash with a very small amount of mild soap and water can be done on occasion to remove any oils and dirt. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. For extra sparkle, a jewelry polishing cloth will bring back the radiant shine. No harsh chemicals are needed.

 

Do you make custom designs?

Absolutely! Please reach out via the contact page for any custom requests, and we can start discussing your unique project! If you have a vision I would be honored to craft it for you. After we discuss what you are looking for, I will send a rough sketch of how the piece will look, as well as pricing and any additional info. A 50% deposit will be necessary for me to begin working on your piece. I will stay in communication about the status of your piece and provide updates. Once the item is ready for shipping, full payment will be due before it is shipped.

 

Do you make plus-size or smaller scale pieces?

I will make any size you require! The ready-to-order pieces are a one-size-fits-most, the measurements will be listed with the item description. If you need an adjustment, please reach out to me before ordering, and I will make it happen! Style should be accessible to everyone!

 

How long does it take to make my order?

Any items listed for purchase are ready to order and will be shipped in approx. 1-2 weeks. Custom orders will take approx. 3-4 weeks to create and 1-2 weeks to be shipped, although I can give a more accurate estimation when we discuss your project. Bog Maille is a one-woman operation and I focus on making high quality, slow-crafted items. I am very grateful for the patience and understanding of my clients!

 

Where do you ship from?

Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada.

 

Do you ship internationally?

As a young brand, I am currently only available to shipping within Canada. My goal is to be able to ship internationally, and that will definitely be possible in the future!

 

How long is shipping?

All items are shipped through Canada Post. You can generally expect your order to arrive in up to 7 business days.

 

What's your return/exchange policy?

Because each piece is handcrafted to order, all sales are final. Please be certain of your size, style, and design before purchasing. If you have any questions or need guidance before placing your order, I am always happy to help ensure your piece is exactly what your looking for.
